Party Report|BIGFISH pts. Paul van Dyk Politics of Dancing 2

Last Friday [January 27, 2006] BIGFISH flew in the World's Number 1 DJ and my personal fave Mr. Paul van Dyk [PvD] it was a mind blowing event and the German trancer proved to Trance loving Pinoys that he deserves to be on top. I was able to bring my camera but I had a lot of trouble getting nice pics [I wasn't sure which settings to use was also able to get some vids but the sound is really bad] I'm posting them anyway.

Venue/Parking: World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay. IMO one of the better venues available it definitely beats Phil Trade. First it is bigger. Much better maintaned also it's well lighted has a big parking lot with security guards too. Good job BIGFISH on getting a bigger and better venue. PvD deserves no less. Hehehe

Ticket Price/Entrance Procedure: PhP 800.00 for regular tickets. VIP is at PhP 12,000. We got regular tickets cause we couldn't find six more people... Anyway 800 seems a fair price and I'm sure it also inadvertently filtered out some jologs.

Music/DJ:
When we got there DJ John Boy of Team BIGFISH was on deck. His set was more of House and Dance music. At around 1am PvD went on deck and he was dishing out Trance tracks that would send shivers down your spine. Tech trance and vocal trance just the kind of music that I love! He played some tracks from Politics of Dancing 2... Shine, Swing to Harmony, and the massive track The Other Side. He also played some familiar tunes from Reflections... Crush, Time of Our Lives, Nothing But You.

Visuals/Decor:
the décor was a bit spartan but I wasn't there for that anyway. The lights were fantastic though. Nice!

Crowd: Lot's of kiddies and expats. Also a lot of familiar faces. As I said there was a far lower number of jologs I think because of the venue's security and the ticket price.

Drinks:
Well as expected the drinks were pretty expensive. 70 bucks for a small bottle of water.

Security:
Bouncers galore inside. Security guards on the gates and an Ambulance was also on standby for people having too much fun.

Verdict:
IMO it was a very sucessful event. The venue was better, the crowd was also better, and of course the DJ is PvD, and he proves that he deserves to be called the World's Number 1 DJ. The Force is Strong with PvD [nuf said!].

Darth Kegaw to Treo 750: It is Useless to Resist

I have never been one to keep my devices *as is* when it comes to the OS/Firmware… This 2nd Treo 750 will be no different. So I dusted off my old Cheetah files [trivia: the Treo 750 is codenamed HTC Cheetah] and decided to HARD SPL [this allows for non-carrier branded ROMs to be loaded] and flashed it to a Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM. Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen… and the ROM loaded without any issues. I did notice that Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 was not included in this ROM not really a problem since I own the software as well.  I’m currently syncing my PIM data and will be installing my apps over the next few days.
