iPhone Reminders Alarm Sync Issue

Image
On all three devices I am using Exchange ActiveSync to sync Calendar and Tasks for my work email account.   I have no issues with Calendar items. Items I create on any device are synced complete with correct reminder time.   I created one task on each device with a reminder for 12PM. Items created on Android or PC have their reminders wrong on the iPhone but display correctly on the respective devices. All three devices have the same time zone settings. I checked my Outlook.com account and the time zone is also correct.   So I am stumped. Have you experienced this issue?   Apple iPhone 5S iOS 7.0.6 (11B651) Time zone = Manila   ACER 4740G Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit - all updates installed Outlook 2013 (Office 365 subscription) Time zone = UTC+8 (which is Manila)   Samsung GT-S7582 Android 4.2.2 Time zone = GMT+8:00, Philippine Time

Co-branding Outlook.com

Image
If you use Microsoft’s Outlook.com you can co-brand the site with your own logo. Sounds great but what’s up with the very small pixel count, it’s like a pixel count for the old operator logos you had to make for Nokia phones. Microsoft should really allow a bigger logo.

Tips & Tricks // Setting-up Outlook.com Hosted Email on Windows Mobile 6.1

Image
Old devices need not stay in your drawer, if they still work you can still use them. You’ve resurrected your old Windows Mobile device (in my case it is a palm Treo Pro ), you’ve already setup Exchange ActiveSync with your Outlook.com hosted Email account but you have to monitor an additional email address also hosted on Outlook.com, well this guide is for you. Let’s get to it… 1. Open Messaging and select Setup E-mail 2. Type in your credentials and hit next 3. Uncheck Try to get e-mail settings automatically… 4. Select Internet e-mail 5. Choose your name & display name 6. Incoming mail server = imap-mail.outlook.com:993 select IMAP4 select next 7. Enter your credentials (again) hit next 8. outgoing mail server: smtp-mail.outlook.com:587 hit next 9. Check Require SSL for both and done 10. You may customize download settings to your liking There you have it, you now have Outlook.com hosted email on your device together with your EAS email.

Moving My Work Calendar From Google to Outlook.com

Image
As I mentioned in my previous post I am using my palm Treo Pro as a phone for my VRDC (work) SIM card. I got contacts & email (hosted on MSFT's Outlook.com) to sync using Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) however I am stuck on the calendar. The VRDC calendar which I share w/ my colleague is on Google Calendar. I've subscribed to the calendar via Outlook.com so I can see it online but since Windows Mobile 6.1 doesn't support multiple calendar sync the appointments are not pushed down to the Treo. So I decided to move VRDC calendar to Outlook.com, it was fairly easy to export the ics files from Google calendar and import them into Outlook.com. On Outlook.com After the ics files were imported into the main VRDC calendar, I unsubscribed from Google calendar (since those were now duplicates) On Apple iPhone 5S On Chrome Mobile (you can also use Safari Mobile)  went to https://www.google.com/calendar/syncselect  and un-selected VRDC In Mail, Contacts, Calendar - turne...

iCloud Control Panel 3.0 is out and it supports Outlook 2013. You can use Apple Software Update to get it or grab it here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455 Remember to shutdown Outlook before setup After a few minutes you get this screen Now I have iCloud contacts, mail & tasks in Outlook 2013 (I don’t use iCloud Calendar, and photo stream)

iCloud Control Panel 2.0 removes item selection... Toink

Image
It used to be that you could select which items you can sync to Outlook (I used to sync only contacts to Outlook on my machine) now it seems Apple has removed this option and you have to sync everything to Outlook. Less options = no fun.  I hope they bring the item selection back in future versions of this application.

Tips & Tricks // iPhone PIM conflict resolution

Image
Posting my email to a friend re: resolving conflicts in iPhone contacts and Outlook (or another program).  Sorry for the long email.  This happens when you have multiple locations of contacts for your iPhone. This may also occur when the device you are syncing uses fields that are not supported by the program you are syncing too. In this example:   Twitter and iPhone are not supported by outlook and will be left out. When you sync it may be possible that some of your contacts have fields like these and are not being synced bec the program thinks it's empty.       What you can do is rebuild.   Step 1: backup your outlook contacts. Export as pst or windows csv. Pst format = container keeps caller ID photos. Csv does not.   Delete the pst in outlook or make it point to a new one. This is now empty.   Step 2:  fix your contacts on iPhone, make sure you use basic fields like:   Mobile Email 3 Home 2 Work 2 Ca...
