Review|Pirate Nero 4Gb / tokidoki x mimoco Designer USB Flashdrive

When I got in the office yesterday morning there was a parcel waiting for me on my desk. I knew right there it was from mimoco [USPS packaging + tube shaped appearance]. So I unpack it quickly and check out my 4Gb Pirate Nero tokidoki x mimoco Limited Edition Designer USB Flashdrive . -- I got the Pirate Nero mimibot a couple of stickers and brochures as well [not shown], unlike my Star Wars Series 1 and 2 which I got 1Gb each I decided to go with a higher capacity for this mimibot [got a 4Gb]. So Chewie is going back to his packaging and will be displayed alongside my other mimibots. -- [say hello: PIRATE NERO!!!] -- part of the swag for mimoco USB drives is the content inside. You get a SoundByte Application [sounds when you insert or remove your mimobot from your PC], some icons, images and wallpapers and Mimozine vol. 2, pretty busy so I haven't really checked out all the stuff yet. Oh... and I don't have a Vista machine right now so I don't know if these current genera

New Windows Mobile Treo Coming Soon...?

The palm Centro was a definite let down and didn't really warranted a second look. Some good news though! palm infocenter is reporting that another Windows Mobile Treo is in the works, it's supposed to be for the Sprint network in the US, it's supposed to run Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, have a 320 x 320 res. screen, have GPS and WiFi. It'd be interesting to see what really comes out of the palm camp. Hopefully a GSM version is also in the works.

HTC's New Devices

HTC is going to have an event on 06 May 2008 to announce it's new line of devices... I wonder what we'll be seeing from the folks in Taiwan...

Review|Nokia 6267

-- I've been using this mobile for a few months now, and I thought it's time to squeeze in a short review before I get lazy or get tired of it and sell it... -- The Nokia 6267 is a clamshell mobile phone running Nokia's Series 40 3rd Edition. -- Specifications: Quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE [850/900/1899/1900] Dual band UMTS [850/2100] 0.3MP and 2MP [w/flash] Camera microSD [upto 4Gb] 2.5mm mini jack miniUSB sync Nokia S40 3rd Ed Bluetooth 2.2" 320 x 240 main display and 128 x 160 secondary display FM Radio -- What's in the box: Nokia 6267 mobile phone HS-47 Stereo Headset BL-5C 1020mAh battery AC-4 high performance charger User Guide CD-ROM -- Impressions: Nokia has done well with this mobile and although I am only using it for my SUN Cellular SIM I'm quite pleased with it. It has all the bells and whistles any self-respecting mobile phone would have. I like the fact that Nokia has moved away from their proprietary Pop port crap and have gone miniUSB. Alas charging

Old 'New' Box Up and Running

Got my old 'new' desktop for the office up and running today. -- I'm calling it old 'new' because it's new but technically old. -- Intel 1.8 Ghz Dual Core [same processor as my last MSI Notebook which is about 2 years old] 2048 DDR2 667Mhz RAM ECS P4M900 Motherboard Lite-on 20x Super Drive Inno3D NVDIA 7300GT 512Mb VRAM Seagate 80Gb 7200RPM HDD - OS/Apps [from my old P4 box] Seagate 320Gb 7200 RPM HDD - Storage [from my old P4 box] -- Basically, my processor was upgraded to dual core 1.8Ghz, RAM was doubled to 2Gb, Video RAM was quadrupled from 128Mb. I swapped in both my HDD's from my old P4 box, inserted the installation disc for the motherboard and installed the necessary drivers, installed the video card driver, re-activated XP and am now up and running again, total excluding download time a little less than 10 minutes. I can't say I see any real speed or performance benefits except for Photoshop CS2 opening up a bit faster but that might be a placeb

Party Report|WWW pts. Tiësto Elements of Life Tour '08 Manila

19-Apr-08: Round 2 of Tiësto in Manila! -- Venue/Parking: World Trade Center, by far one of the better venues we have here in Manila. We got there early and were able to park at the gated, guarded and lit parking lot for PhP 30.00 not bad at all! The decor was a bit sparse but the lights and monitors were abundant. Awesome effects, during the intro though I felt the sound system was not up to par but as the night progressed it sounded better. It became really hot I think it's because of the lights though... -- Ticket Price/Entrance Procedure: General Admission P1,300.00 [P1,200.00 pre-selling] VIP Tables [includes 2 bottles] we got the 30,000.00 for 10 pax. Not cheap but we got a table and seats. Besides it's Tiësto! We went in at around 12:30 to my surprise there wasn't a long line, flashed my VIP bracelet and we were led to our area. -- Music/DJ: At around 1:30AM Tiësto was introduced via a voice recording which was a welcome change from lame ass barking that usually acco

Review|Sanwa Supply microSD card reader

Since I've moved on to the microSD card format. Ok ok, TBH I still have one 2Gb miniSD for my Canon IXUS50, but my TyTN II and Nokia 6267 have 2Gb and 1Gb microSD cards respectively, so majority of my devices are microSD. I've decided it's time to invest in a portable card reader. -- vs I still carry my microSD to miniSD and miniSD to SD adapters because of my Boy Scout training! Actually they remind me of Matryoshka dolls -- This tiny little thing actually reads microSD and microSDHC cards [upto 4Gb only]. It comes with a loop so you can attach it to your mobile/device like a phone charm. There's nothing more to be said really... it's small, USB 2.0, PnP [plug n play, XP, Vista, Apple] and gets the job done. I'm not too worried about it not reading higher capacity microSDHC cards because I don't plan to invest in SDHC just yet. Still waiting for the prices to go down some more besides I'm content with 2Gb for now atleast... :D -- Some more pics and thou

Review|Lime88

[Signage] [Scramble] [Balut in Red Wine Sauce] Had dinner with the family sans our dad [he was out of town] at Lime88 last Friday. -- Here's what we ordered, I'll attach my comments to each item. -- Roti Prata - texture was not good Scramble - I like the candy sprinkles Street Food BBQ Platter - Isaw [Chicken Intestines] Betamax [Pig's Blood] Isol [Chickenass], I liked this but really hoped Isaw Baboy [Pig Intestines] was included Street Food Style Pizza - tasted like 3M pizza, WTF!? 1 piece of sausage per slice? sheesh! Balut in Red Wine Sauce - this is worth it Osso Bucco Style Kare Kare - bland Baked Oysters - bland and fishy Grilled Tilapia stuffed with Mango Salsa - fish was not cleaned well Curry Meatballs - more salty than curry Quail Egg Tempura - soggy Chicken Breast with Kang Kong and Quesong Puti - this tasted good -- Over all the items were bland they may appear cheap but are actually quite over priced considering that they are street foods! Service was a bit sl

3G iPhone in 60 Days?

You read it right Appleholics. The Jesus phone is going to get 3G... Now this makes it a bit more interesting not to mention palatable for a geek like me. It's a natural evolution for the product but I do hope they add flash expansion [Stevie has surely heard of microSDHC], a removable battery, and maybe sell it to the ROW [rest of the world], do take in mind this is probably for a North America release, so if it's on AT&T a front facing camera may be missing. I do hope the 3G enabled iPhone will be HSDPA and usable as a modem for other devices, I'd also like to see A2DP and more Bluetooth profiles supported. I think adding these and opening up development on the iPhone a bit more will make it an even more popular gadget. I'd also like Mr. J to launch iTunes for the Philippines, but that may be wishing for too much. Feelin' Froggy

The rooster problem is a thing of the past but now I have to deal with frogs. Good thing that the volume isn't too bad when I turn on the AC and the TV. There are 1 or 2 roosters in the vicinity as well but like the frogs they can be drowned out by the AC. We have a non split type AC unit and it does make more noise than the split type in our old room but it's constant and rhythmic, am actually used to it already.

Tiesto - He's A Pirate - 06-Feb-07 @ Glelerdom

-- In approx 2.5 weeks Tiesto hits Manila again for his Elements of Life [EOL] tour. We can only hope that the venue and production crew will be able to handle at least half of what we can see on this youtube vid. It pains me that the effects and visuals in concerts / events here in Manila are so crappy. And yes that is the theme from Pirates of the Carribean , hence the title He's A Pirate, it's one of the tracks from the EOL CD.
