Review|Transcend 4Gb SD Card 150x

I got myself a new SD Card. It's a 4Gb 150x speed Transcend SD Card [Part No.: TS4GSD150]. -- I'm now in the process of syncing my music files via my notebook's flash card reader [it's faster than having the card in my Exec's SD card slot], transfer rate is way faster than my 1Gb 50x speed Kingston SD Card or my 1Gb Sandisk miniSD Card for that matter. -- [Woot! 4Gb yeah!] [With this much capacity!!! Tips & Tricks|Push E-Mail

Finally got around to trying Push E-Mail on my Exec. It's fairly easy to setup really. -- What you need: 1) Windows Mobile 5 device with AKU2 or higher 2) Exchange Server [there is a free solution for this ;-)] 3) GPRS/EDGE/3G connection and subscription [WiFi doesn't work although AS pass thru does] 4) Activesync on your PC. -- Step 1: Go to http://www.mail2web.com/ and make a free account. Step 2: Go to mail2web LIVE control panel [login to customer control panel under help tab] and download the Activesync settings. Step 3: Copy the CAB file from Step 2 to your device and run it. The CAB file will install all the necessary settings etc etc so you won't have to! COOL! Now go and change the sync settings to your liking. I made it so that only email is synchronized I don't want it to mess with my other PIM data like appointments, contacts and tasks. Step 4: You can forward emails from your other accounts to your new user@mail2web.com address, works really well with G-

Review|Hed Kandi 61: The Mix Summer 2006

Category: Music Genre: Dance & DJ Artist: Various Artists Hed Kandi 61: The Mix Summer 2006 is out. At first I was dissapointed as I browsed over the tracklist as the songs and even some of the mixes have appeared in some other compilation that I have acquired earlier, but I like Hed Kandi [yes yes even more so when MoS bought them] as a label and so I decided to get the album nonetheless There are 3 CDs each filled with pretty popular and commercial house tracks, I do wonder if there is a lack of tracks in the world as there are some pretty old tunes in there. Don't get me wrong the tunes were nice of course but I was wondering how a 2 or more year old tune [i.e. Paul Johnson's Get Get Down, WTF?!] could be included in a supposed 2006 mix oh well. It would have been ok if the tune was remixed [i.e. MyMyMy (Stonebridge Mix) by AvH] but I mean the tune was as is. I would have understood if they were passing off the 3rd CD as hits of Summers Past [which is probably the case a

Review|Lashed Euphoria Mixed by Lisa Lashes (2006)

Category: Music Genre: Dance & DJ Artist: Various Artists mixed by Lisa Lashes The First Lady of Hard House Lisa Lashes [IMO atleast] is at it again this time releasing LASHED EUPHORIA! I can't deny that in one point in time I was really into HARD HOUSE, listening to this album sort of reminded me of those days. Perfect soundtrack for a game of Chess... all kidding aside this album doesn't dissapoint and should be a welcome addition to the collection any fan of the genre.

Giving up on TS3.0

I'm giving up on Nokia Theme Studio 3.0 and have uninstalled it from my notebook [currently using Theme Studio 1.2], as such I will not be extending support for the newer Nokias [i.e. N-Series N80 et al] although my themes have been reported to work on older N-series models [N90, N91, N70] of course they are 100% compatible on Nokia N6600, N7610, N6630, and similar mobiles. -- Thank you for using my themes, as always I make them for free so please, please, please do not purchase them.

Tips & Tricks|Adding Album Art to Windows Media Player

Here is a simple trick to add Album Art [yes you don't need an iPod Photo or higher] to your tunes, this works for Windows Media Player 10 [or higher] for both the Desktop and PocketPC. -- What you need: The album art image [Google or Amazon is a good place to look for these covers] Tool to resize or edit the image [ irfanview is great freeware app for this] -- Step 1: Get your image. Step 2: Edit or resize your image and save it as... For the desktop you would need 2 images Folder.jpg [250 px x 250 px is ok] AlbumArtSmall.jpg [125 px x 125 px is ok] For the PocketPC only 1 image is needed Folder.jpg Step 3: Place images in the correct folder. Folder and AlbumArtSmall must be placed in the folder of the music files you want to have the album art for. -- Here is where you should place it on your Desktop: Here is how it will look on the Desktop: Here is where you should place it on your PocketPC: Here is how it will look on the PocketPC: Now you have album art support for both your

Where is the Next VGA PocketPC Phone?

Been searching high and low for any news on a 2nd VGA PocketPC Phone... but I'm not having any luck. -- ATM the only VGA PocketPC Phone that will work outside JAPAN or KOREA [they have some VGA PPC Phones there but those won't work outside their networks] is still the HTC Universal [aka i-mate JASJAR/Dopod 900/O2 XDA Exec etc etc], have the wise guys [I write this with 200% sarcasm] at DELL/HP/FS/ASUS/HTC etc. turned their back on the VGA PocketPC [more importantly the VGA PocketPC Phone]? Or have they just learned to keep better secrets? I'm sure the market is dictating smaller devices but how about screen resolution? I mean some Nokias have higher res [i.e. N80 has 352 x 288] than a qVGA [240 x 320 PPC or Smartphone]. Most PPCs are coming out with sub 3" in. displays [2.7" or 2.8" in.] I wonder how VGA would look on these screens? With the display technology now why aren't we seeing sub 3" in. VGA displays? Are manufacturers staying with 176 x 220

Dopod 595 Announced

Dopod has announced it's next generation WM Smartphone... the Dopod 595 -- Specs: Triband GSM [800/900/1800] and UMTS [2100] Bluetooth 2.0 2.2" inch 240 x 320 65K Colour Display miniUSB for synchronization and charging Dual Cameras 0.3MP [video calls and self portraits] and 1.3MP [pics and vids] 300mhz Samsung Processor 64Mb RAM and 128Mb ROM Windows Mobile 5 for Smartphones Weight: 115 grams w/battery Size: 112.4 x 49 x 14.8 [in mm] Talk time: up to 5 hours microSD Slot [transFlash] -- It's sad that WiFi has been left out with this model. But if you don't mind the data costs [3G or GPRS] then this might be the mobile for you. Thinking about it there is no point for me to get this as my 2ndary mobile as my Exec operates on exactly the same bands and has WiFi plus the ease of use with a VGA touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard plus the more robust PocketPC OS [unless I consider size and weight]. -- So far I am eyeing the 838 pro as my next primary device [I blogged a

Dopod 838 Pro Announced

The HTC Hermes [aka HTC TyTn in the EU, Dopod CHT 9000 in Taiwan, and other names like i-mate JASJAM etc etc] has now been announced by Dopod Asia Pacific [Singapore] was browsing their website last night and the 838 pro was still nowhere to be seen... but I'm looking at the website now and some specs and images are up! Wow! As I said this just might be my next PocketPC Phone. I have been reading a lot about it and have seen reports that some of the units are experiencing problems with the keyboard, screen alignment and BT performance. Maybe I will wait a while before looking at one up close and personal [to minimize temptation you see]. I am also thinking of getting a HTC TyTn [via parallel import] also since I kinda like the squarish look a bit more. Also waiting for microSD [which unfortunately this device uses] to go up to 2Gb before switching [AGAIN mind you] memory formats. -- Key Specs: Quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE [850/900/1800/1900] and Tri-band WCDMA [850/1900/2100] [yey! yey!

Review|Marcel Woods - Advanced [CD Single] (2006)

Category: Music Genre: Dance & DJ Artist: Marcel Woods If you like tech trance you'll love this one from Marcel Woods. First got a listen of this from Trance Nation 22 and have been spotting it soon after on different compilations I've acquired. I like this track so much that I decided to look for different mixes... and here we are. I love the amazing build up and hard hitting beats. -- There are 5 mixes in this release: The Single Mix The Original Mix Ton T.B. Mix Filterheadz Love Distortion Mix Woods Revisited Mix -- So far my fave are the Ton TB and Woods Revisited mixes. The Love Distortion Mix is ok but I felt that it left out the best part of the song which is the build up and explosion of sound, it became a bit flat IMO. -- To complement the review I fished out the video from YouTube. It shows Mr. Woods at Trance Energy 2006... boy I wish I was there. --

SANDSTORM!!!

Was scouring Google Video for some music videos and found this classic trance vid! It's Sandstorm by Darude. -- -- Brings back some really fond memories... :o)

Updated Beanbook!

Just updated my notebook to a T2400 1.83 Core Duo Processor! Noticing the speed boost and the battery drain as well. Really happy with my notebook right now hehehe :o)

Review|Judgement Sundays: The True Sound of Ibiza (2006)

Category: Music Genre: Dance & DJ Artist: Various Artists mixed by Judge Jules This 2 CD release is Judge Jules take on what is smokin' hot for Ibiza [the Party Isle] this summer, it's tracks range from Funky House to Trance. I think that the mixing is topnotch, again nothing robotic or computer-like. The tracklist may seem familiar if you've been getting anything and everything released recently, still this release will should have a place in your collection, it is Judge Jules afterall. Go get your copy now!

Review|Bob Sinclar ft Steve Edwards - World, Hold On (Children of the Sky)

Category: Music Genre: Dance & DJ Artist: Bob Sinclar ft. Steve Edwards As I said in my review of Western Dream I think that World, Hold On is a fantastic track when I feel this way about a track I try to get a hold of all the mixes [and maybe the even the video] that I can find, good thing I found this single with 6 mixes! Woot Woot Woot! So far I'm loving the mixes... I really can't decide on which is my fave at the moment... anyway while I decide on that, check out the video [courtesy of google video] --

Review|Sensation White: Germany '06

Category: Music Genre: Dance & DJ Artist: Various Artists Again something from ze Germans... ;-) this time we have a listen to the official Sensation White Compilation for '06. The compilation has 2 CDs, Disc 1 has 16 Tracks whilst the Disc 2 the MegaMix CD has 23 Tracks. Now onto the music... it seems like this compilation is filled with the harder stuff, I don't mind really as I kinda like it hehehe. Lot's of beats and no dull moments. Disc 2 the Megamix can be plunked into your fave player and be left playing, I am unsure if most people will appreciate it though as it is a bit harder and rougher than the normal electronic dance music I hear in clubs/raves. Still I suggest you have a listen do keep your ears and mind open with import compilations as they tend to be a bit different. Different is good in this case atleast IMO.

Review|Bob Sinclar - Western Dream (2006)

Category: Music Genre: Dance & DJ Artist: Bob Sinclar Bob Sinclar [Christophe LeFriant aka Chris The French Kiss] the French dude who brought us Love Generation is out with a new album. I like Sinclar's type of house music, it's very upbeat and most of the tracks have nice vocals. Some funk and electro influence also show through some of the tracks, I also noticed a lot of guitars imbued in the tracks this leant to the Western feel I guess. Sadly it seems like a Love Generation cloned album at times [I even think most of the vocals were by Gary Niesta Pine] don't believe me? Have a listen at: Tracks 1, 8, and 10 in succession. Although World Hold On [track 4]'s vocals were done by Steve Edwards, it seemed to be cast from the same mould from Love Generation. I do think World Hold On has great potential there's just something about it that really catches my attention. The Ron Carrol Mix of Love Generation is not bad either. Overall if you like Love Generation, y

Review|Godskitchen: Global Gathering '06

Category: Music Genre: Dance & DJ Artist: Various Artists Like with previous Global Gathering Compilations this one is 3 CD's it has 52 tracks [Nice!]. I've always been fond of the Godskitchen Global Gathering Compilations... I even went to the 'watered down' local version of the events here in Manila [for the past 2 years], incidently this year's Godskitchen will be on the 19th of August with DJ Paul Thomas , I am unsure if we're going as we are boycotting BIGFISH events [they really fucked up my Chicane experience this year - yep that is why there is no party report for Chicane in Manila 2006]. Enough of the venting and back to the music... Too me Global Gathering has a more balanced feel, compared to Crasher or Clubber's Guide Compilations which are either too Trance or too House-centric. With Global Gathering you really get a sampler of dance floor filling, hands up in the air, body moving tunes [may it be House, Trance, Dance or Electro] for 2006,

Review|Ministry of Sound: Clubbers Guide Berlin '06

Category: Music Genre: Dance & DJ Artist: Various Artists This one is from the Ministry in Germany. Of course it's very foreign sounding, yet mildly refreshing to listen to something that is not too commercial [in Manila atleast]. I do find myself gravitating towards the end of the CD [which is more trance-centric] as the first few tracks have no appeal to me. I don't forsee these tracks hitting the club scene much less the local airwaves anytime soon.

Review|Cream Summer 2006

Category: Music Genre: Dance & DJ Artist: Various Artists Taking a page out of the Gatecrasher playbook, Cream has come out with it's compilation for summer 2006. Again these types of compilations aim to present 3 things: what is currently playing, what will be playing and what was playing in the club. It's a pretty good formula, and the Crasher series has proved that this formula works. Props to Cream for having an actual human [or a better computer] to do the mixing for this compilation. The mixing doesn't seem as robotic as the crasher series. No complaints about the flow of the compilation all 3 CDs perform as expected, giving it a second go on WMP as I type up this review. Everything is pumping nothing boring like Hed Kandi 60, which frankly almost put me to sleep. This is a great compilation that you should really have. Go get it!

Review|Ministry of Sound: Clubbers Guide Ibiza '06 (2006)

Category: Music Genre: Dance & DJ Artist: Various Artists The Ministry has released another 'Guide' themed compilation, this time it is a guide for Ibiza '06. This is a 2 Disc set and it has a really nice flow to it, the mixing is better than Crasher's IMO. The track selection is a bit more broad and I saw far fewer tracks from The Annual, Clubbers Guide, Clubbers Guide to Summer or Dance Nation... which is a good thing. It is filled with progressive tunes that are lined with wonderful synths baselines and vocals... This is a pumpin', uplifting album perfect for clubbers may they be in Ibiza or elsewhere. Nice!
