Nostalgia aside, I thought the Nokia 3310 (at Php 3,000) is a bit overpriced for what it offers and for a spare phone at that. So, I purchased an even cheaper dumber phone. The Nokia 105 Dual SIM is just Php 850 yes less than Php 1,000. It's super basic you can't even sync contacts to it or change the date format, but at least now I have a super cheap phone with super long battery life for emergencies. No fear of data charges since it doesn't even have GPRS. I think this would be a good mobile to deploy to staff/offices that don't need more than basic features. Oh and it has a torch.

For my work phone I use the mid-range Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 (GT-7582) it's dual-SIM. My personal phone is an iPhone 5S I was listening to Windows Weekly 356 (2014 Build Dev Conference episode). One of the hosts mentioned the upcoming Nokia 630 phone. And I am really intrigued. A dual-SIM Windows Phone! I’ve been bemoaning the total crap that has become of Maps on iOS6 ever since the first beta. As we wait for Apple to fix their maps let’s explore some alternatives… all these are FREE but require an internet connection. Don’t complain, a smartphone isn’t smart without a data plan. 1. WAZE – thanks to @byronini for this tip. It’s free, has turn-by-turn voice navigation, traffic, and a lot more features. Download this now. 2. Google Maps Web App. Go to maps.google.com on Mobile Safari and add to Home Screen for quick access. A far cry from the neutered Google Maps pre-iOS6 but still useful if only for the POI search. NB: Google is rumored to be working on a native Google Maps application for iOS (ala YouTube ) 3. Nokia Maps Web App – remember Nokia? So which is it? Nokia (NOK) and Microsoft (MSFT) announced a partnership today. Both lumbering companies have been in some trouble with their smartphone divisions. Both have been loosing market share to Apple, Android and Blackberry in recent years. I was at the Nokia store while I was waiting for my Treo Pro to get replaced. Of course I went straight to the dummy models (they don’t display live phones anymore; fear of stealing I guess). I was playing with the N97’s slider and tilt system. Looks really sturdy, however it seems that it goes tilt only; you can’t just slide it up. The guy noticed I had to smartphones so he smelled a potential sale. He comes up to me and starts spouting specs like an frakin’ sub-machinegun. He knows his product great training Nokia. So WiFi, 3G, Bluetooth, 5MP, wow… pretty impressive ey… touch screen ooooooh… Finally I got tired of playing with the slider and asked him the most important question. Does this phone recognize similar numbers? At this moment the guy already new that he has lost this sale. I connected my Nokia 6267 (RM-210) to my PC this morning and what do you know Nokia PC Suite alerted me of a new update for my mobile. I downloaded Nokia Software Updater 1.4.9 [a new version]. While waiting for the update to finish downloading and installing [it's 37.2Mb] I poked around the Nokia site and saw Nokia PC Suite 7.0 , so I downloaded that as well. -- I have no idea what the FW includes but I'm flashing anyway. Will report back if I notice any glaring differences after the update.

I used to post stuff I make on a number of websites some have even closed down or changed their formats anyway... The 2 that sort of stuck was deviantART and mobile9. Lately, I seem to have been neglecting my deviantART page. Good thing I had some time today and was able to check on my page and answer the comments/questions that people left me there. It's embarassing to admit that some messages date as far back as mid-March. I haven't been theming for any platform for the longest time, most of you know that I used to theme for Nokias, Sony Ericssons, Windows Mobile PocketPCs and Smartphones, maybe that's why my dA page has sort of fallen off my 'must check' sites. Nowadays I usually concentrate on making tones mostly EDM tones. Since dA has no facility for music uploading I guess it got bumped off eventually, I've uploaded most of my content to m9 a website/community for mobile phones. I've been bad mouthing the N-series from Nokia for quite awhile now. Now I'm no anti-Nokia zealot but I've always felt that Nokia is taking advantage of it's popularity and coming out with sub-standard mobiles [crippled might be a better term]. For example all Nokia mobiles except for the N8800 [which is not a music phone at all which is odd] does not have A2DP or AVRCP for that matter. They have mobiles with the capable Bluetooth chip but have elected to disable the profile and thus forcing the user to buy an 'enhancement' which is total bull crap IMO. Well I guess I can shut my piehole now as it seems that they have pulled their thumbs out of their assess and come up with 2 new models which support A2DP... Finally something not crippled in some way [hopefully] the N95 and 5300 series. It would be interesting to see how Nokia implements A2DP, I do hope it is way better than the way MS first did it in Windows Mobile devices [or did not do it for that matter]....

I'm giving up on Nokia Theme Studio 3.0 and have uninstalled it from my notebook [currently using Theme Studio 1.2], as such I will not be extending support for the newer Nokias [i.e. N-Series N80 et al] although my themes have been reported to work on older N-series models [N90, N91, N70] of course they are 100% compatible on Nokia N6600, N7610, N6630, and similar mobiles. -- Thank you for using my themes, as always I make them for free so please, please, please do not purchase them.

Once again I'd like to remind everyone that my themes are free. The guy gladly let me browse his laptop and sure enough some of my themes were being sold (It's 4 for Php 100.00 for any theme).
