Review|Wanted

Category: Movies Genre: Action [adapted from Graphic Novel ] Starring: James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman -- A very action packed and visual movie. It did show some signs that it was directed by Timur Bekmambetov the same person behind the Day and Night Watch movies. James McAvoy held in there and was a worthwhile leading man. Jolie was very very hot [I think I'm in love] and Morgan Freeman is Morgan Freeman. Wanted is fast paced action with a lot of guns and pretty wild stunts with cars. Worth the watch if you like things that are not overly complicated.

The Beanster Blog 9.2

I went back to a 2 column format for version 9.2 of my blog. I was getting tired of the 3 column view anyway. I've also reset the widgets to get back functionality I've lost over the changes I've been making to the HTML. Good to see that Blogger kept most of my widgets [unlike in previous versions where you had to re-add each and every widget]. I've basically stripped down my blog again and will be adding widgets as I go. A new start, well not entirely... but new enough.

Embassy Club Closed for Renovation

Ok. Time to weight in on this... -- Micro-blogging sites and blogs have been buzzing with the news about your fave club being closed by the city government of Taguig. This came after a patron was reportedly assaulted by a DJ. Embassy has also been on the limelight prior to this as fights often occur inside or outside the club. Well what do you expect liquor + cramped place + testosterone = mayhem. The drug issue has also been raised but not confirmed (daw). I'm not really affected by this closure which I think will be temporary, haven't been to Embassy since March. Some of the events slated at the sprawling club are being moved to alternate locations. Some micro-bloggers say that Embassy has posted 'closed for renovation' on their doors. Sounds way better than 'closed for investigation' don't cha think? I'll end this post with a hasty (probably malformed) Haiku: -- Were oh were will the people go? Piedra? Ascend? Fiamma? Embassy is closed, oh no! -- Vinc...

Last Goodbye Ai

Our great grand aunt has passed away. We're not allowed to go to the wake because of feng shui/zodiac stuff. Didn't really know her that well in fact I don't even know her name. We just refered to her as Ai (auntie) because she was my grandma's aunt. I remember her fondly as a small but strong woman. Laughter came quick for her and it was always good to see her even if our conversations were hampered by my very limited hokkien dialect. Haven't seen her in the past few years and last I heard she was staying at the buddhist temple. Tips & Tricks|Flat Title Bars for WM6

If you've been looking at screen shots of Windows Mobile 6.1 you may have noticed that the default theme now sports a flat title bar on top. You don't need to update to 6.1 to get this though. Just a simple registry key can get you that 6.1 look you always wanted. -- Things you need: Windows Mobile Professional device Registry Editor Color codes -- Step 1: Using your registry editor navigate to the following key: \HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\ .tsk Step 2: Create a new binary value Name = Color_TitleFlatCenter Value = XX XX XX 00 [where XX XX XX is the color code] Step 3: Soft Reset and you are done!

HTC Kaiser WM6.1 ROM a Huge Dissapointment....

Ok this might be a rant post but it has to be done... I have an HTC TyTN2 aka Kaiser [if you don't know the Kaiser is the manufacturer's code for the device, I will refer to the device as Kaiser from now on] Ok so I've been a good little boy and was really patient and waited before installing the update. Why did I wait? Well I wanted the applications to catch up to the OS, yes it was just a point update but some apps were not working so well on 6.1 so I decided to wait. So yesterday I decided that I should finally go 6.1, did a backup of my device, sync'd my PIM data and went ahead with the ROM update. Everything went smoothly and I was installing my essential applications without any complications. PIM data was sync'd, I was using chat sms, and zooming in PIE. The problems began when I started customizing my device. I always have cleartype enabled on both portrait and landscape modes on my devices because I feel it's softer on the eyes especially since I stare ...

Review|Get Smart

-- This movie starring Steve Carrel (The Office US) really cracked me up... Lord knows I needed a good laugh. Anne Hathaway is hot hot hot! Also in the film are: Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and the Great Kali [dunno his real name] both are wrestlers from the WWE. The film is actually a big screen adaptation of a 1960's Mel Brooks (Men in Tights) and Buck Henry TV sitcom. Funny film :)

Land Rovers = Off Road

[STORM TROOPER WHITE... DROOL!] I opted to join Marc et al last Sunday to go off roading in relatively nearby Tanay, Rizal. Boy was I glad I did. It was a great experience and a real eye opener on what the LRs could really do. We crossed creeks, rivers, rocks, dirt, sand, mud, gravel, foilage and at wild speeds and impossible angles at times, impressive machines and driving. We took a dip in the river, something I haven't done in more than 10 years, brought back a lot of good 'ol camping memories. Marc packed a great 'picnic' we had steaks, corn, chickboy adobo [that's chicken and baboy], fresh buko juice [from the tree baby], and of course Marc's freshly made pesto penne. We then did an intermediate run on 'SPONGEBOB' [that's the name of the vehicle], I was hanging on for dear life and was being tossed around like a rag doll but it was an adrenaline rush too see what you were trying to traverse or what you already have [if you look back]. GMail Filters/Labels are a God Sent

I used to have about 20 filters/labels for my main Gmail account, when I moved from POP to IMAP syncing it was a PITA to have to sync all the folders [each label is treated as a folder by Messaging in Pocket Outlook]. So I selected all my mail and removed ALL the labels and deleted all the filters and relied on Search [which works pretty well too] -- Today I was forced to take another look at filters/labels -- Recently I've been receiving emails that I'd rather not read/look at [for now at least]. So I decided to make some filters and move the emails automatically as they are received to the Archive [so I don't see them but they are there just in case I might need em, of course I've also added a Label to them for easier organization. I was doing this on the desktop and viola after 1 sync [via IMAP] the emails disappeared from my TyTN II's inbox. Now my inbox is much much more bearable. -- I wonder if this was the trick used in the movie SATC by the assistant? If so ...

Review|Nancy Jane (2008)

Category: Music Genre: Dance & DJ Artist: Nancy Jane [Castiglioni] It's been awhile since I've reviewed any albums... My bro handed me this CD and asked me to have a listen since he knew I liked Electronic music. I was quite surprised that it was by a local actress. So I popped it into my music player and gave it a listen. Here's my take on this album... I personally haven't heard her sing so I don't know if she has the talent or the voice to put out an album. Then again with the tech these days you can do most anything digitally... Most of the vocals on the tracks seem to be digitally altered, nothing new nor wrong with that in the Electronica scene. I do get a distinct impression that she is trying to channel Bailey [yes Ms. Everafter] commercially a good move, we all know that Pinoys have grown to love her [Bailey's] sound/voice. This is all well and good BUT to do it for almost the entire album is a bit much for me. I can't stop but feel that the tra...
