SPB Software House has just released another uber useful application. It's called SPB PhoneSuite. In a nutshell it's all the essentials that you would need to make your PocketPC Phone Edition device really useful as a mobile. I was fortunate enough to be able to beta test the application before it's official release. I must say that the app is rock solid and pretty stable on my Treo. I've been running it for about a week and a half and it'll definitely be a mainstay on my device. Let's go over some of the features of PhoneSuite.
--
Call Filters
This is a worth while addition to any mobile. Allow/Block [Black and Whitelist] certain numbers. Perfect if you don't want to receive annoying phone calls during the weekend. Would probably be good against stalkers too :P
--
Today Plugin
The customizable Today Plugin gives not only Indicators of missed calls, received messages for SMS, MMS, E-mail and V-mail (not shown), it also includes a Wireless Manager, Profile Picker and Photo Speed Dial (which I will discuss later)
--
Dialer Extensions
SPB included a Reject with SMS feature [built in on Treos] which is sorely missed on other WM devices. Good on you SPB! Another extension is adding Photo Call Log. Again something small but useful nonetheless.
--
Profiles
WM PocketPC doesn't have profiles. SPB has given not only customizable profiles but also timed and even automatic Profiles really useful! Profiles can be selected on the Today Screen :-)
--
Photo Speed Dial
Again the Treo has this built-in but most WM devices don't and as an improvement on the Treo's system this one pops out when you need it only [optional] so it saves space. Impressive work from SPB.
--
Wireless Manager
Most devices now have multiple wireless radios PhoneSuite gives easy access and control to these as well. As with other SPB products they've spiffied it up so you won't see WiFi if your device doesn't have a WiFi radio like my Treo here.
--
Conclusion
This is a must have app for any Phone Ed device. The pricing is just right at 19.95 USD. There is a 15-day Trial available thru SPB go and give it a shot you just might like it.
--
Suggestions
For the next releases I hope SPB enables skinning (me thinks this is in the works), better documentation on the Auto Profiles, and a way to back up settings (IMO all highly customizable apps should have settings backup)
