WHAT THE F!!! When I woke up this morning I saw that SPB Backup was still running which was odd since I set it to automatically backup every 5AM. So I let it do it's thing and got ready for work. After the backup and subsequent soft reset. There was an error message stating 'cannot start\Windows\SpbBackupRunner.exe'. Dismissing the notification I went ahead and tapped the start menu but I only had the today icon I could not access any programs at all. I soft reseted 6 times no change so I did a hard reset and restore of last Sunday's backup file, Monday's was definitely corrupted. However my sms were not restored even a manual custom restore did not help because apparently even a full automatic backup does not save PalmMsgV001 the file which contains all my sms & mms data. Treonauts using SpbBackup if you want to backup sms & mms do it manually by copying the file to your pc or storage card. Spb will definitely be hearing about this. Vincent Benedict Py Cast...

Wasn't able to sleep since 9:30am yesterday. So I cleaned up the house again. Thanks to Asukal [xda-dev] I now have a Vanilla WM6 Treo 750v [Vanilla means no carrier branding and apps]. The process was pretty simple and straight forward. I did have to do a hard reset after but it's worth it just to get rid of all the AT&T branding and crap-ware loaded on the AT&T ROM, also the Storage space got boosted by around 9 to 10Mb, I had close to 58Mb after a HR. Just finished syncing my PIM data and loading up my essential applications and games. The AC in my room here at the office is busted. Damn it's really warm. It's so warm I'm feeling sleepy... Ok over the past few days with 2 typhoons passing the PI. Rains were drowning out the sounds that my nemesis made. Now that the rains have stopped the mother humping roosters are back in full force. Finally... just in time for the weekend I'm starting to feel better. Will take it easy tomorrow [er... today hadn't realized it's 1AM already] and try to rest up some more after checking up on the kiosk and doing some chores. Did some speed tests with the leaked WM6 AT&T ROM and UMTS on SMART. -- Location: Driving Around Marikina City [my bro was driving] Network: Smart Communications [Philippines] Settings: Set Band to UMTS to avoid falling in and out of UMTS signal. Testing: BBR [broadband reports] downloading 100K file [mobile speed test] -- [1st test: definitely mid to low 3G speeds] [2nd test: It dips some more here] [3rd test: Still 3G speeds but a bit faster] [4th test: we see a speed drop again] -- It has been discussed in the forums that the 3G icon would change to an H when the device uses HSDPA. Never saw the H. I think this one is definitely location and carrier dependant. So YMMV. I think I will do the speedtests again tomorrow in V-Mall at San Juan [I have crappy UMTS signal @ home].

Sometime this afternoon my shobe gave me a disturbing call and said that the notebook I got for her in May was in an endless restart loop and couldn't boot into Windows. She was freaking out and wanted to reformat it there and there. Gratefully she took my advise and after tinkering with it for a bit it's now alive again. It was giving a BSOD right after the Windows XP screen with the progress bar then looping back to the OEM screen. Being the brute that I am, I removed the HDD and placed it in my 2.5HDD enclosure. Explorer on both my VAIO and my other sister's MSI just hanged with the HDD connected. So I put the HDD back and decided to try and repair it via the Windows XP CD Repair Windows Tool. Chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr did the trick. With fingers and toes crossed I exited the repair tool and restarted the machine. To my surprise it booted and presented me with the logon page. With her password entered, XP started and we quickly backed up her files on the Desktop to her 2nd...
