What's your next Mac?

I have been toying with the idea of purchasing 2015 Retina MacBook Pro to replace my Mid-2012. I get to keep USB-A, HDMI, SDXC, and MagSafe.

I'm not sure if this is the correct path to go but I haven't come to terms with the dongle fiasco that is the 2016 MacBook Pro. I really want TouchID tho, but it's not putting me over the edge.

The only thing I am sure about is 256Gb is not enough. For my use case, which means dual booting into Windows. I think 512Gb should be minimum, especially since modern Mac components can no longer be upgraded.

Another thing I am considering is going with a 2015 MacBook Air 13in. While this will be a downgrade in the screen and horsepower department. It will be a boost in the up time department and the weight will be less. Alas, this would also mean no more games for me. Which makes me a bit sad. I could treat the MBA as an interim notebook while everyone gets used to USB-C.

Or I could stick it out with my Mid-2012 and it's busted speakers for another year. Thing is, knowing Apple they will stick with this new dongle body for the next few years like what they did with the 2012 body and what if in 2020 they come out with a notebook with zero ports?

So it has come to this, picking between last year's models or marching lock step with Cupertino into the dongle future. Anyone else missing Steve Jobs?

I just wanted to share some stuff I learned over at xda-dev's forum today.
--
Anyway as the title states this is about today themes and Orientation Aware Backgrounds. It's really quite simple
--
All you need is 2 images [3 if you want to change the Start Menu image as well] of the proper resolution.
--
QVGA:
tdywater_320_240.gif [Landscape Image] = 320 x 240 image
tdywater_240_320.gif [Portrait Image] = 240 x 320 image
stwater [Start Menu Image] = 190 x 290 image
--
VGA:
tdywater_640_480.gif [Landscape Image] = 640 x 480 image
tdywater_480_640.gif [Portrait Image] = 480 x 640 image
stwater [Start Menu Image] = 399 x 586 image
--
What you do is copy the files to \Windows directory and viola! Orientation Aware Backgrounds!
--
Notes: The theme's default images will be used once you switch themes. So you would need to copy the files back again to \Windows dir for it to work again, what I do is I have placed Wallpaper sets in ZIP files on my Storage Card so I can change and change as desired.…
