More Model Than Mobile

Motorola's V3 Phone [aka RAZR] which came out in silver, then in black, then in pink and now... GOLD! Yup DOLCE & GABBANA in cooperation with handset giant Motorola is making only 1000 units of this elite mobile. It is tagged as the V3i Dolce & Gabbbana Limited Edition, so how does this compare to the normal RAZR? Well obviously it is in gold [they are calling it Liquid Gold; but hey I can call black as Pubic hair black can't I?]. It comes with custom D&G Background and Screensaver, Custom Startup and Shutdown tunes. A special Polytone [What the F*ck haven't they heard of MP3 tones? For Pete's sake it's almost 2006 already!]. And a Video Clip of D&G's 20 year history. It also features a personal serial number engraved on the mobile... and the only way to get this exclusive mobile is by booking it [that means you have to reserve it]. Is this all? Well of course not! The lads at Motorola beefed up the specifications of their ultra slim wonder... it now features a 1.2 MP camera, Video Capture and Playback, and a removable memory card [probably Tflash]... Well nothing much there eh [memory cards and 1.2MP cameras are the norm now] it also has Bluetooth 1 [nothing special there] and Quad Band which I'm sure all jet-setting fashionistas would appreciate... It is also rumoured to run iTunes [similar to Moto's ROKR phone]. The verdict: on paper this phone is definitely more Model than Mobile. It is available in Italy, France, Germany, Spain and UK.

Elopocalypse or Balmergeddon

So which is it? Nokia (NOK) and Microsoft (MSFT) announced a partnership today. Both lumbering companies have been in some trouble with their smartphone divisions. Both have been loosing market share to Apple, Android and Blackberry in recent years. WindowsMobile (previously PocketPC and currently WindowsPhone) once the dominant mobile OS, yes folks before the iPhone came into power Microsoft slowly but surely killed of it’s main competitor palm OS, which was acquired by hp last year and is now barely a sliver of a shadow of it’s former former former self. Just this week hp/palm unveiled 2 new smartphones the palm Pre 3 and Veer, as well as their entry into the tablet space with the TouchPad. hp being one of the top computer manufacturers at the moment has the resources to use and spread webOS like a creamy peanut butter across all markets they are in. By being one of MSFT’s biggest customers now suddenly not using Windows7 (still MSFT’s tablet OS of choice) and churning out comp...
