Personally I'd wait for the HTC Wizard [aka i-mate k-JAM, Qtek 9100, dopod 838, O2 XDA II mini pro] I really want an in-built keyboard. But this baby is really nice as well.

  1. Since I know jackshit about these things, would you recommend this phone over say, a SE W800i?

may memory card slot ba to and what format ang memory nito?

  2. Both have pros and cons:

The ATOM is a PocketPC Phone so a PDA + Phone capability, The SE W800i is a pure mobile phone [they are touting it as a music phone though].

Using a PPC phone will definitely be more complicated since you need a stylus to input data and navigate the UI [user interface] albeit WM5.0 strives to make the OS more one handed friendly it still isn’t 100% stylus free. So foreseeable issues with the ATOM is writing an sms while driving. With the W800i one handed ease of use is given.

The ATOM will have WiFi as well as Tri-band GSM and GPRS. The W800i has the GSM and GPRS only.

The ATOM will have Mobile versions of Outlook [Contacts, Tasks, Notes, Calendar] Word and Excel and Powerpoint [viewer only] so PDA talaga.

Yes both have memory slots for expanding memory:
    ATOM uses miniSD upto 1GB
SE W800i uses Sony MemStick upto 1GB
Of the two I think MemStick is more expensive, however super konti pa lang miniSD here [although malamang madami sa HKG so ok lang dadami din here] hahaha

If you want a phone go with the SEW800i,Yap has one and he seems pretty happy with it. If you want a PDA with Phone capabilities go with the ATOM, if you want something with a thumb board go with the HTC Wizard [aka dopod 838, O2 XDA mini Pro, i-mate k-JAM, Qtek 9100]

    Hope this helps
