Review|Breffo Spider Podium
So I got my Breffo Spider Podium http://www.breffo.com
I had almost forgotten that I ordered these. What’s great with this stand / tripod is you can really customize it in a myriad of ways. It can be configured to hold your device with various viewing angles and orientations. It’s rubber finished which will help it not sliding about on your desk or other surfaces you may wish to lay your iPhone or other gadget on. Yep that’s right this should work with other devices pretty well.
Another thing I like is that you can use this stand with your gadget in a case. With the glif you had to have your iPhone4 naked and it only works w/ the iPhone4.

My notebook conked out today...
Tried to boot into safe mode -- no joy
Tried to repair the MBR -- no joy
So I went ahead and reformatted.
My backups are current so I'm not worried about data loss. It's just a chore to rebuild a system just the way you like it.
This is the 3rd major issue I've had with this notebook, I'm not blaming Acer entirely though.
My friends are advising me to switch to a Mac, but I am apprehensive.
Aside from the obscene Apple tax, I'm just too comfortable with Windows 7.
I suspect an HDD issue, so I will be observing the system as I rebuild.

LEGO Lust, Brickset & BrickLink
I have always loved LEGO. I think it might even be my fave toy of all time. I'm ashamed to say that I've only found out about these two sites today, I was googling for more info about the new version of the Millenium Falcon 7965-1 announced at NYTF2011. Eventhough I already have the 2004 version of this set, this has instantly jumped to the top of my LEGO want list.
Any way if you're into LEGO in any way you should probably signup for these two sites
You can check out the sets I own here ==> http://www.brickset.com/search/?ownedBy=bnycastro

iPhone5 Speculation
Design will be the same as iPhone4 physically, antenna will be retooled to have less attenuation ala Verizon iPhone4's antenna. -- seriously antennagate was an overblown issue that only affects a very small group of users (mostly US)
I doubt Apple will go with a single dual mode CDMA and GSM device. They will keep CDMA separate from GSM. It's unlikely that they will use LTE or WiMAX, adoption for those are still too low.
The 8Gb 3GS will be killed off. iPhone4 will be moved down loosing capacity and will also loose it's glass back and instead have a polycarbonate back.
I don't think they will change the size (bigger or smaller) footprint wise although they could change the screen size (resolution will be the same)
Camera would also stay the same
Processors & RAM will get a bump
White iPhone5 will be at launch
Anyway these are my initial speculation for iPhone5, what are yours?

Elopocalypse or Balmergeddon
So which is it? Nokia (NOK) and Microsoft (MSFT) announced a partnership today. Both lumbering companies have been in some trouble with their smartphone divisions. Both have been loosing market share to Apple, Android and Blackberry in recent years.
WindowsMobile (previously PocketPC and currently WindowsPhone) once the dominant mobile OS, yes folks before the iPhone came into power Microsoft slowly but surely killed of it’s main competitor palm OS, which was acquired by hp last year and is now barely a sliver of a shadow of it’s former former former self.
Just this week hp/palm unveiled 2 new smartphones the palm Pre 3 and Veer, as well as their entry into the tablet space with the TouchPad. hp being one of the top computer manufacturers at the moment has the resources to use and spread webOS like a creamy peanut butter across all markets they are in. By being one of MSFT’s biggest customers now suddenly not using Windows7 (still MSFT’s tablet OS of choice) and churning out competitors to the rebooted WindowsPhone mobile OS. It is no surprise that MSFT chose to partner with NOK.
If we look at Nokia the biggest and still number one mobile phone maker at this time. The company made a partnership with Intel to develop MeeGo but it looks like that has fizzled out. Symbian just isn’t competitive vs the other modern mobile OS. So with a burning hatred for Android (Google) and next to impossible to deal with Apple (APPL), Nokia has decided to ally itself with Microsoft one of the few companies that may have a deep enough bench (and/or billfold) to possibly put a dent into the iOS and Android armour.
We have yet to see how both companies will leverage their strengths to create a compelling ecosystem to sustain their products.
MSFT has WindowsPhone7, Office, Bing, WindowsLive, Zune & Xbox
NOK has NavTEQ and a lot of hardware experience and very strong presence in most markets (except North America actually) actually Nokia has a lot of very very good operator relations in a lot of territories.
How would this new partnership affect the Nokia and Intel dynamic? Microsoft and Intel dynamic? What about the Microsoft and HTC, Samsung and LG (et al) relationship?
So on paper this partnership is a match made in smartphone heaven. One of my dream devices in the recent past was a Nokia E71 with touchscreen and Windows Mobile 6.x this time around imagine an N8 and E7 running WindowsPhone7. This mythical narwhale or unicorn of a device may not be so mythical for long. Chew on that for a bit.
I’m sure all technology enthusiasts are watching this partnership and the potential repercussions it brings about with much interest. I know I am.
**special thanks to @radrad for coining Elopocalypse hehe

Review | Arty - Twilight Tonight
One of my fave tracks from 2010 which I only got to purchase in January 2011, a really nice uplifting trancer from Arty. It is unclear if this track has anything to do with glittery vampires but it does give me that goosebumpy feeling I know and love.
The Original and Arty Remode are getting the most plays on my iPhone. Non-completionists can get just these 2 tracks ala carte (don’t you just love digital media?) or you may choose to get the entire release here: http://www.audiojelly.com/singles/483228
This track is guaranteed to bring a smile to any trance aficionado’s face.
Review | First State ft. Relyk - Cross The Line
Another track from First State that I am really enjoying. This one is done with Relyk (AKA Kyler England) do you see what she did there? Yeah, hyper un-creative aliases aside (-_-) this track should definitely be included in your shortlist if you like well produced/arranged and well sung trance. A must have track IMO.
Get the release here: http://www.audiojelly.com/singles/497372

Review | First State feat. Sarah Howells - Reverie
Such a beautiful track... Sarah Howells has such a wonderful voice. I am of course partial to the Dash Berlin Remix.

WindowsPhone7 Launch FAIL
Microsoft puff piece for WindowsPhone7 at least this time they admit that Filipinos CANNOT purchase apps yet.
However, Philippines-based users of the WP7 will not be able to download applications from the Windows Phone Martketplace as it is not yet available in the country.
No word yet on when this will be rectified. Clearly Microsoft is blundering their WindowsPhone7 launch outside the US. If the only thing you can boast about is Facebook integration then there is something very wrong with your platform. Everyone know’s it’s currently an app centric battle. Most smartphones from other platforms have similar specs. Right now it is the apps that makes the difference and yet a lot of countries (including our 3rd world country of course) cannot purchase apps. What the hell are the people at MSFT Philippines doing? May be it is time to get your thumbs out of your assess and push for the Philippines to be taken seriously by MSFT Global?
Apple has been selling apps since they began selling the iPhone officially. This shows that it can be done. Frak, even Samsung is able to sell apps on their BADA platform.
A huge corporation can’t go to the telcos and countries and demand the same or similar deal for Apple? What Microsoft doesn’t have the clout? Microsoft just sabotaged their own product by not having an ecosystem in place. Nice job dorks.
Original Puff piece is here.
