I purchased my iPhone in Hong Kong July 2009. A few months back the battery has begun acting up and the sim card tray broke. As I was travelling to Guangzhou this week I decided to cut my trip and detour to Hong Kong to have my 16Gb iPhone serviced for the sim card tray and crappy battery life. I call the HKG repair center and they say that I should bring the unit in. I got there early (I was the 1st customer of the day). I hand over my iPhone and Gordon shines a penlight in the 3.5mm jack and at the dock connector. He informs me that the water damage triggers have been tripped and that my iPhone which was supposed to have warranty til July 2011 is now void of warranty. Keep in mind I have never dropped the device in water or any other liquid. I try to plead my case with Gordon who is apologetic. He offers to call Apple and get me someone to talk to. After staying on hold for about 15 mins I am talking to Brian from the Singapore office. I run thru the whole story again and again...

As Lando once said: This deal is getting worse all the time… Yep there was a time that facebook was the most private of the networks. That day has long passed and we have seen facebook do little to help it’s users to protect their privacy and their content. I’m a fairly tech/web savvy person and even I got confused with how facebook privacy kept on changing for the worse. I really really hated how facebook kept on hi-jacking links. I also did not appreciate the LIKE system spreading like a cancer all over the WWW. So this morning: I removed ALL my LIKES (there were A LOT over the years) changed all my interests to “Facebook Privacy Sucks” deleted my mobile numbers and finally de-activated my account. The only downside that I am seeing is that I don’t have access to the company facebook account, like it or not, facebook is the biggest social network out there and you would be fool if you did not want your brand on there. Ok so hp is going to buy palm for 1.2B... It's good to know that palm & webOS may still survive. To be honest I was very interested in webOS... But palm hasn't been doing too well with their new OS. flaky hardware, weak marketing, and strong competition have pecked on my interest for palm's offerings. Hoping hp will continue to use and develop webOS and finally get back into the mobile device space. Hp can use webOS for smartphones and tablets.

Pecking out this blog post on my trusty Treo Pro. Yep back to familiar Windows Mobile 6.1, I sold my HTC Hero to a friend. Enjoyed my short stint with Android (approx. 3.5 months) but there's nothing like the comfort of your first smartphone OS. Still not sure if I will stick w/ Windows Mobile or try out Windows Phone 7 (when it is released later this year).
