Hong Kong Weekend

I’m off to HKG for the weekend… I really don’t plan on buying any new gadget (unless the 3GS or Hero are at reasonable prices). What I do intend to do is pig-out. I love Cantonese cuisine.

Globe Sucks...

Ok so a few days back I tried to reserve a Black 16Gb iPhone 3GS. Globe said they'd have to call me back (Seriously? A call back? Seriously?). Not pleased at all with this roundabout crap to reserve an expensive piece of kit & be tied down for 2 years (keep in mind I have almost zero 3G signal at home). Suffice to say they have lost this sale.

If ever I do get an iPhone I will probably get an unlocked unit from HKG. I don't mind paying a bigger sum upfront if it means I can be operator agnostic.

Flu Fighter

There has been a nasty bug going around (it is flu season...) and I was hit with it this week. Was nursing a fever w/ body ache, coughs & colds. The fever has subsided already but the coughs & colds remain. Still feeling a bit weak & appetite isn't back yet I've lost a few pounds. Basically I've been staying home & sleeping a lot.

Thanks to Ol & Elars for the advise on meds.

Reserved: Globe iPhone 3GS 16Gb

I do not know if my fever is affecting my decision making centers. I just got off the phone with Globe customer service and have expressed my interest in getting a: Black 16Gb iPhone 3GS.

I am looking to get the device with a G-Flex 800 plan for 24 months and shelling out 25,350.00 PhP for the unit itself.

They will get back to me within 3 days to finalize my reservation. Estimated ship date is July 31, 2009

If this goes according to plan I will probably ditch my SMART plan and go back to Globe (shudder) because I will be tied down to a 2 year plan.

I will definitely keep my palm Treo Pro (Windows Mobile) with my SUN Cellular plan to do all the things the iPhone cannot do yet.

My HTC Touch3G and HTC S730 can rest in my drawer if I am not able to sell those. I think 2 devices is my limit, I tried carrying 3 before and it is just too much of a hassle.

If I am not pleased with the 3GS I am setting my sights on an Android device next.

Suffice to say I have taken my 1st steps towards the darkside (Apple Wall Garden)

Dash Berlin is back with another track. The follow up to the immense track Till the Sky Falls Down is pretty good. So I do what I always do when I like a track… I got the mixes as well… these have been starting to creep into some of the podcasts I listen to. By far my fave mix is the Andy Duguid piece.

SOMEBODY BRING THEM TO THE PHILIPPINES… PLEASE!

Paul van Dyk is definitely one of the top DJs of our time. He is back with a new single this time with Irish singer/song writer Johnny McDaid. I first took notice of this track on his Volume: Best of PvD album (we will get to that next time). I am personally a sucker for vocal trance specifically with female vocals (hence my current addiction to all things OceanLab) but I also appreciate tracks with good male vocals. McDaid gives a good performance on these. This track has PvD written all over it; the formula he has works and continues to work. I must however question this release’s content 4 tracks with basically 2 mixes just at different lengths (radio vs extended) can’t feel nothing but being short changed by that. Maybe the track is still too new or maybe the folks at Vandit are getting lazy (I can’t imagine they don’t have the clout or that the track doesn’t have enough traction to be mixed by other talents in the scene). That being said the Kaskade treatment is nice and welcome but I still prefer PvD extended. I hope to hear more mixes of this awesome trancer.

TyDi-Look Closer (2009)

This is I think one of the better Trance albums that I have listened to in a long while. As a matter of fact this completely blind sided me. I like how he has pieced together his tracks and how he uses breaks and melodies. The title of the this album definitely fits as this deserves a closer look. There is definitely something special here. tyDi is a young and talented DJ from down under who is poised to take the world by storm. Get his album, press play and turn up the volume.

I’m not talking about the bar popular in the mid-90’s… rather a new track that has been getting some well deserved air time (or pod time) in some podcasts that I follow.

This is something new from Andy Moor & Ashley Wallbridge and features vocals from Meihgan Nealon. The release from AVA recordings has 3 tracks. I am really liking the Ben Gold Vocal and Original Mix. Have a listen for yourself and remember TinT (Trust in Trance)

I have been lagging behind on these for awhile (heck I have been lagging behind on all my blogging) and I will try my best to post some more reviews of releases that I have come across and am enjoying.
