Review|Hed Kandi: Beach House 04.05 (2005)

Category: Music
Genre: Dance & DJ
Artist: Various Artists
Summer is over... The weather is kinda gloomy almost everyday. We either have cloudy skies or scattered thunderstorms for forecasts. The good thing is 'Summer' is a state of mind, the people at Hed Kandi help us to get into this state of mind with this 'fun-tasmic' (fun and fantastic) release for their Beach House compilations. Again one of the more popular flavors of Kandi this will surely be a staple in your audio device. The first CD starts with the soothing track Reach the Sky by Eddy Meets Yannah, continues with the suave Suavemente from Malena, you can almost imagine being on a beach sipping your favorite umbrella drink and looking at the waves caress the shores. A New Start slows things down a bit. Ms. Bailey's vocal prowess gives Rise (Beach House Mix) enough to merit mention. Robina's New Moon and Kuppercoco's Undone undo themselves and don't really appeal to me that much. Let It Ride (Jimpster Main Vocal) gave me happy goosebumps, I like this mix better than the speakeasy remix which appeared in HK:WM2004 (nice!). Hold the Light doesn't really hold it quite well enough for me and is a bore. King DK all royalty with Can't Read Your Mind (Tinderbox Radio Edit). Stephanie Mills sets you Free and you know you ain't going Nowhere, as Aquanote wraps up the 1st disc. Ready for more? Of course you are let's go to disc 2 it starts with Sean (Mig's Salted Mix) one of my fav tracks from HK:WM2K4. Things speed up with Show You How (Wonderchops Mix) from Stonebridge and Julie Morris. Never Before (Bobby Blanco & Miki Moto Mix) from Afterlife continues this compilations winning ways and makes way for another Kandi mainstay Peyton; Need to Feel Wanted one of the best tracks on this compilation for me. Back to Us (Tinderbox Vocal Remix) blows and momentarily wrecks my listening pleasure... the Late Night Alumni recaptures some of the magic with Nothing Left to Say (hmmm another one from HK:WM2K4!). You'll definitely need a bigger room for dancing Kaskade's Everything (Big Room Mix) goosebumps galore--now this is a track! Mylo's In My Arms starts of with a beat heavy build up which makes me double check my playlist wondering if I accidentally included a drum track in there... after one whole minute you notice something sounds fishy... and then bam a familiar catch phrase (I think it's from Star to Fall) and an even more familiar tune (I just can't place it--I think it's Betty Davis Eyes or something older)-- so this Frankenstien of a song piqued my interest and well let's just say I'll be listening to this track again. Reach for the Sunshine makes you want to refill your umbrella drink and take on a few more rays. River of Love (Full Intention Vocal) from Roachford floats you straight to the end of this musical vacation which is Lovin' You More (That Big Track) by Steve Mac et al. a fitting last but not least type of track for this compilation. Once again Kandi gives us Deeply Soulful House for Sundrenched Summer Listening! Dats Hot! :o)
